Stephanie E. Gibbs is a seasoned immigration attorney with over a decade of experience litigating complex immigration matters before the federal agencies, as well as in federal court at both the district court and appellate levels.
Before joining the team at Murray Osorio, Stephanie served as a trial attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Immigration Litigation, where she represented government agencies in federal courts nationwide. Stephanie’s practice spanned constitutional and statutory issues, jurisdictional issues, APA challenges, mandamus, and class actions. She collaborated with counterparts in the offices of chief counsel for client agencies, as well as with the Offices of the U.S. Attorneys.
Prior to government service, Stephanie served as Supervising Litigation Attorney at the Safe Passage Project in New York, NY. There, she led litigation strategy for a team handling countless immigration matters on behalf of children, including appeals, family court proceedings, and strategic federal litigation. She has collaborated with leading legal organizations on precedent-setting cases affecting immigrant youth and families.
Stephanie began her career in private practice for several small immigration firms in the New Jersey and New York area, where she represented clients in removal defense, humanitarian relief, immigration detention, and criminal-immigration matters.
Stephanie earned her J.D. from New York Law School and her B.A. from Colorado State University, with additional study at the Université de Paris. She is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey, and before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern District of New York and the District of New Jersey, as well as the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.
